About Me

Nancy Adair's journey in the field of dentistry/dental hygiene has enabled her to be a valuable resource on the evolution of dentistry/dental hygiene.  Nancy has become a dynamic motivational international speaker, a dental educator, a past CE chairperson, a transition strategist, a clinical supervisor, a reserach team member on implants, a periodontal hygienist and founder/owner of the CE company Hygiene Excellence Inc.  

The CE company has become well known for SUSTAINABLE science-based practice builders ...THE WORKING MODEL!

Nancy graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene and from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Arts. The skill development program PTM™ addresses the most compelling finding in dentistry today ... the oral-systemic correlation.  The PTM™ is changing the image of dentistry!

4 hours of science based lectures  +  4 hours HANDS-ON SKILL DEVELOPMENT 

 SKILL DEVELOPMENT on four cases - a healthy,  a complex 3 month, an implant and an active moderate periodontal case ledges of simulated calculus and tissue.

A true working station is provided for each participant including  14 HAND instruments, 5 diagnositic instruments, an ultrasonic unit, 5 ultrasonic inserts. *Piezoelectric training included due to reduced aerosols.

THE WORKING MODEL manual with guidleines.

Breakfast, lunch plus snacks and door prizes are included; 8.0 CE Eligibility

OBJECTIVES:

  • Leverage the therapeutic services provided by a Periodontal Department and Implant Department.
  • Adopt the NEW CLASSIFICATIONS 2017 of Periodontal Diseases and the guidelines from the 2019 Peri-Implantitis Symposium.
  • Discuss the similarities and differences in appointments, instrument set ups and instrumentation between maintenance and active therapy patients.
  • Test your diagnostic skills with multiple clinical cases. 
  • Execute HANDS ON skill development on FOUR different cases ... LEARN skills with alternating techniques and EXTENSIVE hand instruments. 
  • Incorporate The Working Model in a MANUAL to enhance a periodontal approach in:  healthy adult cases, a complex 3 month (SPT), implant case and active periodontal  therapy.

Morning session:        

Lecture – Setting the Stage for NEW Opportunities.

Practice – 4 probes and EXD explorer.

Lecture – How instrumentation has changed TODAY in periodontal therapy.  

Practice - Expanding critical universal scalers/curettes and appreciating the differences between ultrasonic unists.

Lecture – Blending instrumentation techniuqes.

Practice - Identify, adapt instruments for healthy and SPT maintenance adult patients.

Practice HANDS-ON skill development - instrument with alternating pattern on a healthy case and a complex 3month case (supportive periodontal therapy) to REAL LIFE TIMING!

*Case Studies - test diagnositic and treatment planning skills, approach, protocols and outcomes with     The Working Model. 

 

Lunch

Afternoon session :   

Lecture – SRP is the FOUNDATION of periodontal therapy!

Lecture – Building a comprehensive periodontal tray SET UP from the EXISTING KIT.

Practice - Expand instrumentation options that are required for ADVANCE peridontal skills on natural dentition and on dental implants. 

Practice - Identify, adapt instruments appropriate for implants and teeth.

Practice HANDS-ON skill development - instrument using an alternating pattern on an implant case and moderate periodontal case with teeth having ledges of simulated calculus and tissue to REAL LIFE TIMING!

Lecture - matrix, guidelines and protcols that enable integration of a periodontal department. 

*Case Studies - test diagnositic and treatment planning skills, approach, protocols and outcomes with The Working Model.
