About Me

Nancy Adair's journey in the field of dentistry/dental hygiene has enabled her to be a valuable resource on the evolution of dentistry/dental hygiene.  Nancy has become a dynamic motivational international speaker, a dental educator, a past CE chairperson, a transition stratgist, a clinical supervisor, a reserach team member on implants, a periodontal hygienist and founder/owner of the CE company Hygiene Excellence Inc.  

The CE company has become well known for SUSTAINABLE science-based practice builders ... 'THE WORKING MODLE'!

ALL CE events combine the elements of science-based theory with 'CLINICAL PRACTICALITY', that is 'The Working Model'.  The services provided by the CE company HYGIENE EXCELLENCE INC are: presentations, skill development programs and implementation for superior clinical treatment, service and care. 

Nancy graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene and from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Arts. The skill development program PTM™ addresses the most compelling finding in dentistry today ... the oral-systemic correlation.  The PTM™ is changing the image of dentistry!

Hygiene Excellence Inc has been recognized by the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) for PACE approval in Alberta.  CE credits has been awarded in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Newfoundland.  Nancy has been bestowed the title of 'Thought Leader' by Hu Friedy and Key Opionion Leader (KOL) with Dentsply due to her continual strive for clinical excellence!.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Leverage the therapeutic services provided by dentistry!
  • Discuss the similarities and differences in instrument set ups between ‘maintenance’ and ‘active therapy’ patients.
  • Execute HANDS ON ‘alternating’ technique ... ultrasonics and hand instruments. 
  • COMPLETE four clinical cases to real life 'timing' of dentistry!
  • Incorporate structure and guidelines in a WORKBOOK to enhance a periodontal approach in:  healthy adult cases, a complex 3 month (SPT), implant case and active periodontal  therapy.

Morning session:        

Lecture – Setting the Stage for NEW Opportunities

Practice probing – 4 probes (standard, 15mm probe, plastic, Naber’s)

Lecture – Ultrasonics are a MUST in Periodontal Therapy

Lecture – Blending Ultrasonics and Hand Instrumentation

Identify, adapt instruments for healthy and ‘SPT maintenance’ adult patients.

Practice - instrumenting with alternating pattern on a 'healthy case' and a complex 3month case (SPT) teeth with light granular calculus.

                                    Case studies and create ‘THE WORKING MODEL’

Afternoon session :   

Lecture – SRP is the ‘FOUNDATION’ of Periodontal Therapy!

Lecture – Building a Comprehensive Periodontal Tray SET UP from the EXISTING KIT

Expand inserts

Identify, adapt instruments appropriate for implants and advanced periodontal therapy

PRACTICE - instrumenting using an alternating pattern on an 'implant' case and 'moderate' periodontal case with teeth having ledges of calculus and simulated tissue.  

*ALL clinical work timed, to enable participants to practice what was LEARNT!
