A Beginner’s Guide to a Money-Making Blog
with Jarmea "Mea" Paden
Have you thought about starting a blog, but have little idea how to truly get started? Come join Jarmea “Mea” Paden for our April 22nd workshop as she teaches the basics of blogging at the KSU Center, Room 300 from 12-2.
Mea provides the barebones of what to consider in the creation and the writing of not only a niche parenting blog, but any blog where monetization (making money) is a primary goal.
Topics presented in the workshop will include blogging goals; establishing your audience; identifying competition; hosting options; naming your blog; overall design; the production process; creating content; and potential costs.
Jarmea “Mea” Paden has a bachelor’s degree in English from Spelman College and a master’s degree in Professional Writing from Kennesaw State University. She spent over 10 years working and teaching in the academic realm of writing as a collegiate writing tutor, an adjunct English professor, a Dual Enrollment English instructor for high school students, and an Associate Dean of General Studies. Ready to explore a more creative nonfiction arena outside of her daytime career in Human Resources, she created the parenting blog “3AM Mea” and is a self-taught “mommy blogger.”
The blog, which celebrated its launch on January 31, 2017, hatched from the desire to blend humorous parenting narrative with pop culture symbolism. It chronicles “parenthood as a culture” and funny tales remembered in the middle of the night involving Mea’s 3-year-old son Jrue (pronounced “Drew”) and 1-year-old daughter Jai (rhymes with “eye”).
When she is not writing or researching blog posts, reading a random novel, or listening to baby babble, she is hiding from the kids with her husband.
Her writing can be found at 3AMMea.blog.
Free workshop for GWA Members, KSU Faculty, Staff, and Students. $10 admission for general public.
