SPLG Annual Summer Conference 2015 

The Scottish Public Law Group's seventh Annual Summer Conference is taking place on Monday 8 June 2015 at the Roxburghe Hotel, 38 Charlotte Square, Edinburgh.

The speakers and chairs for this full day conference include James Wolffe QC, Dean of the Faculy of Advocates, Lady Dorrian, Senator of the College of Justice, Sheriff Murphy, Ruth Crawford QC (Faculty of Advocates), Andrew Stewart QC (Faculty of Advocates, Denis Edwards (Faculty of Advocates), Andrew Mylne (The Scottish Parliament), Neil Taylor (Office of the Advocate General), Professor Christine Bell (University of Edinburgh), Shelagh McCall (Advocate), Helen Mountfield QC (Matrix Chambers), Professor Nick Grief (University of Kent and Doughty Street Chambers) and Professor John Curtice (University of Strathclyde).

The conference will comprise of 5 sessions. The first of the morning sessions will focus on public law developments in Scotland. The second session will then go on to consider further devolution for Scotland, including the implications of the draft Scotland Bill clauses. The third session aims to provide an update on public law developments outside Scotland, including a look at nuclear weapons, international law and theRepublic of the Marshall Islands case in the ICJ. Professor John Curtice will then provide his reflections on the General Election in the fourth session. The final session will be a 'Question Time' style panel discussing the General Election and its implications for Scots law. The panel members are Professor John Curtice, James Wolffe QC, Professor Christine Bell and Ruth Crawford QC.

The event is eligible for 6.5 hours CPD. Registration is from 9am - 9.25am. Lunch is provided from 1 -2pm. The conference will close at 5pm and will be followed by a drinks reception. The full programme will be available to download from www.splg.co.uk.
