Wow! It’s hard to believe, but The First Tee has been working to help grow great kids here in Greater Cincinnati for 10 years now! Truth be told, it’s joyful work.
Of course we love introducing kids to golf, but what we do at The First Tee is so much more than that. We use the game to instill in them the important character-building life skills, core values and healthy habits they can use to throughout their lives…to become more confident…to make smart choices…to set goals…to persevere…and to grow up great. We’re proud to be a top-performing chapter in The First Tee network of 175 chapters nationwide, but our real rewards continue to be witnessed in the accomplishments—small and large—of all our students.
Thanks to the passionate, dedicated help of so many volunteers and supporters throughout our first ten years, we’ve built a solid Life Skills Experience (LSE) program with strong participant retention and progression. We’re watching now as kids who started with us in the early years are blossoming as teens—many of them earning recognition for their accomplishments and scholarships to further their education.
And more recently—working in partnership with other youth-serving organizations—we’ve initiated efforts to bring customized versions of our character education programming to kids without the ability to come to our LSE teaching locations. This year, we reached some 900 children through our LSE and outreach programs, and we’re well positioned to grow our impact over the next ten years.
