Join the South Carolina Energy Office for Energy in Schools July 27 & 28, 2021. This workshop is designed to bring together energy and facilities personnel and classroom educators to learn and share ways to manage energy use while keeping students engaged in learning about energy in the classroom, clubs and afterschool programs.
This workshop will be held the afternoon after the Take Action SC Workshop and continue the morning of July 28.
What is the South Carolina Energy in Schools Workshop?
This event is a two-part workshop for building facility operations staff, district energy managers, and teachers to attend as a team. Attendees will learn about energy use, energy efficiency and conservation, lessons tied to these concepts, and how to engage all members of a school community to reduce a building’s energy consumption and save money for the district.
Why is this important?
Energy is the second highest expenditure for American school districts, only falling behind the cost of salaries and benefits for district employees. We know that high performance schools and well managed school buildings keep occupants comfortable, provide great spaces for learning and support the overall mission of a school district while also increasing energy efficiency and helping mitigate negative impacts to the environment.
When is the Workshop?
Sponsored by the South Carolina Energy Office, this two-part workshop will be held virtually on July 27-28, 2021, and will be hosted by The National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project’s team of Certified Energy Managers, Certified Building Operators, and highly qualified educators.
Why attend?
Teachers and district facility/energy management staff members will be able to participate in workshop sessions and break-out sessions that give them the knowledge and resources needed to start saving energy immediately. You will also be able to hear real-world success stories from schools across South Carolina. The workshop includes a break-out session for district teams to meet and begin planning to implement what they have learned right away. Can’t attend as a team? That’s ok, come and learn with others tackling some of the same challenges your district is facing.
How do I sign up?
The workshop registration fee is $10. We will send you an invoice via email once you complete your registration. You will be emailed a link to pay the registration fee. Need to provide a purchase order? Call 1-800-875-5029 to pay with P.O. or over phone.
