WHO SHOULD ATTEND? 

  • Teachers in grades K-12.  NEED’s energy curriculum is interdisciplinary.  Science teachers are encouraged to invite Language Arts, Math and/or Social Studies teachers to attend.

Introduction to NEED, Website, NEED Curriculum Matrix

9:15 a.m.             Science of Energy

Participants will learn about the forms of energy and energy transformations while using resources in the NEED Science of Energy kit.  

11:00 a.m.          Sources of Energy - Energy Enigma

 NOON                 LUNCH

12:45 p.m.          Electricity

Participants will demonstrate the generation of electricity while identifying energy transformations that occur during the generation process and will be introduced to the economics of electricity generation and supply and be able to see first-hand the financial challenges utilities must overcome to be able to provide the power demanded by consumers at the lowest cost.

1:30 p.m.         Efficiency & Conservation – Engaging your students in Energy Education

The Carbon Cycle - This simulation will help participants visualize how the carbon cycle works and how carbon atoms are exchanged between reservoirs. The Energy I Used Today helps participants realize the role energy plays in their daily lives.  STEM Challenges – Participants will be introduced to NEED’s new STEM Challenges connecting innovation to energy.
