ABOUT
THE NATIONAL ENERGY EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT (NEED) PROJECT
The NEED Project designs and delivers teacher-tested educational materials, evaluation techniques and tools, recognition of student achievement, and professional development for educators. NEED materials and training programs provide comprehensive, objective information about the scientific concepts of energy and the sources of energy – their use and their impact on the environment, the economy and society.
DID YOU KNOW
Through NEED, the New Mexico Oil and Gas companies and individuals have funded energy education workshops for teachers in the state. We help teachers educate students on a wide range of topics including alternative energy sources and energy conservation. Over 95% of the workshop participants indicate that they will use the materials in their classrooms. To date, we have reached approximately 600,000 students through the program.
