Yoshimoto OG Advanced Training
This Advanced Orton-Gillingham International training provides the knowledge that is essential for all students who have sucessfully gained decoding skills. These advanced skills enable students to effectively tackle materials in all subject areas and at all reading levels.

The pre-requsite for this class is the OG Yoshimoto Basic Training (40 hours). 

This class will include:

  • Morphology

  • Sorting & Sorting Rules

  • Syllabication- advanced

  • Syllable games

  • Camel word building

  • Consonant – le sheets

  • Concept cards

  • Morphology – practice and implement

  • Activities and games to reinforce learning

  • Abbreviated lesson plan lesson

Ron PictureMeet Ron Yoshimoto, M.Ed, M.S.W., Fellow of AOGPE 

Ron is a Fellow of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham (OG) Practitioners and Educators. He has more than 30 years’ experience in the fields of social work, education and dyslexia. He has been a social worker, counselor, teacher, educational diagnostician, principal, consultant and teacher trainer. Ron served as principal of ASSETS School, a private school for students with dyslexia and gifted children, for 18 years. Currently, he is employed as a consultant for Hawaii’s Department of Education. He also is director of OG therapy centers in Singapore and Hong Kong. A master trainer, he trains in Hawaii, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Canada, and the continental U.S. He is a former president of the Hawaii Branch of International Dyslexia Association and vice-president of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners.

Not only is Ron Yoshimoto the co-director of Orton Gillingham International, he is also our Master OGI Instructor. Ron has focused his expertise on developing the OG methodology for training public school teachers in the general and special education environments using OG, OG Advanced methodology, preschool literacy/numeracy, focused intervention, reading comprehension strategy (called “Connections”) and multisensory math. Ron's life has been dedicated to teaching Orton-Gillingham to both general and special education audiences for the past 30+ years.
