This workshop will teach and facilitate group discussion on Social Work Code of Ethics that guide the professional conduct of social workers. This includes social work profession’s mission and core values. This workshop will provide an overview of the NASW social work ethical codes main function and a brief guide for dealing with ethical issues or dilemmas in social work practice. Training will include teaching social work Ethical Principles and Ethical Standards to guide social workers conduct and to provide a basis for adjudication. Participants will discuss case scenarios that pose ethical dilemmas and their potential solutions in community social work settings, and medical, correctional and school settings.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to demonstrate an understanding of:

  • Ohio and Kentucky Boards of Social Work Code of Conduct
  • Social work values in relation to the individual, client and societal values
  • Social work decision-making model
  • Two social work ethical belief approaches
  • Self-awareness of our own values, principles and decision making and how this effects our work practice
  • The importance of self-reflection into our strengths and barriers in relation to our social work practice
