Training Description
The training covers the skills needed to effectively teach the RC Basic training. At the training, there will be some time spent on reviewing RC concepts. However, the majority of time will be spent learning HOW to teach RC. Trainers will be expected to practice teach to their peers and the Faculty Trainers in a supportive learning environment. Particular focus is placed on helping participants exemplify as a trainer the relational concept of RICH (Respect, Information, Connection, and Hope) central to the RC approach.
Participants will learn and practice a variety of teaching techniques including didactic lecture, small group activities, large group discussions, and role plays. Because the material in Risking Connection challenges the treatment approaches used in many mental health and education settings, the training addresses how to teach and model a paradigm shift as well as field challenging questions and comments.

Requirements for Adopting the Risking Connection Trauma Training Program
Organizational/System Requirements
The Risking Connection approach represents a paradigm shift from the treatment models used in most mental and behavioral health settings. Risking Connection is consistent with the principles of trauma-informed care and can be used to implement and sustain a trauma-informed system of care within organizations. Implementing trauma-informed care in human service settings is a challenging process requiring a shift of culture in the wider organization. Isolated Risking Connection training without wider organizational or system buy-in is generally unsuccessful in promoting change in knowledge, beliefs, or organizational practice. For these reasons, we have developed the following organizational requirements:
