Are you concerned with the level of plastic pollution and don't know what to do to help?
Join Georgian Bay Forever and Plastic-Free Parry Sound to learn practical tips about what you can do in your everyday life to reduce your plastic footprint, and join a movement of others that are doing the same.
Registration will begin at 9.30 am and the workshop will conclude at 2.00 pm. There will be light refreshments and a light lunch served. We are trying to make this as WASTE-FREE as possible - so bring your own traveller mugs and re-usable water bottles, and your own re-usebale cutlery. (Don't worry - we'll have extras if you forget!)

- Registration open. Meet and greet others who care about reducing plastic.
10.00 am to 10.15 am
- Introductions to the participating organizations, speakers, and participants.
10.15 am to 10.55 am
- Overview of the scope of the plastics pollution problem, its impact, and why we really need to care.
- Plastics-Free Parry Sound goals and recent intitiatives
10.55 am to 11.05 am - Break
11.05 am to 11.50 am- Introduction to microplastics, and in particualr microfibres and their sources. What's happening in Parry Sound to help divert plastic microfibres from our water and what you can do.
- How you can be more sustainable in your fashion choices? Did you know that your fashion choices can create a lot of plastic pollution and contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. Learn about what you can do to reduce your impact. 7 Rs.
- 11.50 am to 12.30 pm - Learn about various alternatives to one-use plastic with various speakers.

1.00 pm to 1.15 pm - Shoreline-clean-upsDid you know a lot of litter ends up on our shorelines and most of it is plastic? This litter can be a serious risk to the aquatic food web and water quality. Learn about organizing shoreline clean-ups or join a #GBFTrashTeam cleaning up the shores of Georgian Bay.
1.15 pm to 1.30 pm - Hear from a veteran of shoreline cleans up.
1.30 pm to 1.55 pm - Structured Brainstorm. Let's gather everyone's ideas on futher ways we can eliminate plastic options or find strategies to reduce them, so that they can be shared more widely.
1.55 pm to 2.00 pm - Brainstrom, wrap-up and farewells for now!
