541-306-0226Willing Workers On Local Farms (WWOLF) is a project of Central Oregon Locavore Non-Profit. We are dedicated to providing assistance to small farms and educating the community about the true nature of local food.
About the farm
For more than a decade Dancing Cow Farm has used organic, holistic, biodynamic and permacluture methods with the goal of becoming sustainable as a small food production farm that can feed a community. The farm raises heritage breeds that are listed on the American Livestock Breed Conservancy list of cattle, sheep, swine, poultry, and our vegetable, herb and flower seeds are mostly heritage or personally saved. Here you’ll also find a root cellar, alternative farming practices and buildings that work, as well as Top Bar Honey Bee Hives, Lavender Guinea Fowl, Peacocks, Icelandic Horses, the rescue rabbit, Buckie, Australian Kelpie Working Dogs, and farmhouse cats.
How it works
Meet at the farm at 9:00am. After a round of introductions we will split into groups and get to work! We’ll break for lunch around noon, then return to work until 3:00pm. Jerre at Dancing Cow Farm is happy to provide lunch, but please bring a contribution if you can (side-dish, drinks, cookies, etc).
What to expect
Good times, new friends, dirty hands, deep satisfaction, and a boots-on-the-ground education about local farming practices. Children are more than welcome with supervision. Dogs are not allowed, thanks for understanding.
Just so we don't catch you by surprise, we will ask that you sign a waiver before participating. Waivers will be available at the farm. Please be sure to sign.
What to bring
Work gloves, work shoes, clothing layers for the weather, sunscreen, snacks, water, and a camera.
