ASME - Cybersecurity "Psychology behind Social Engineering/Why It's Effective"

 January 10, 2018

This month, the ASME Milwaukee Section is offering a presentation about Cybersecurity "Psychology behind Social Engineering / Why It's Effective"  - How to keep yourself safe from scams at home and at work, and bolster your readiness as part of your frontline defense against cyber-attacks.

This topic will be presented by Richard J. Flahaven, the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) & Data Privacy Officer for Harley-Davidson Motor Company in Milwaukee, WI.  There he is responsible for establishing and maintaining Harley-Davidson’s enterprise security vision, strategy and program for managing and protecting all Harley-Davidson information assets.  He is responsible for maintaining a cybersecurity strategy and program to assess the effectiveness of cybersecurity capabilities and related programs in mitigating risk to the Company.  In addition, Flahaven is responsible for eliminating global data privacy risks and ensuring that all regulatory requirements are identified and managed such that appropriate safeguards are in place.

Prior to Harley-Davidson, Flahaven held the positions of CISO and Chief Privacy Officer at Whirlpool Corporation where he established and managed global information security and data privacy programs across all product lines.
