Indian Trail Animal Hospital VET CAMP:

Summer 2020

We love veterinary medicine and animal healthcare careers and want to share our knowledge with young people that are as passionate about animals as we are. Campers will learn about animal health and have many opportunities for hands on experience.

Between Indian Trail Animal Hospital and Vet REC: Veterinary Rehabilitation and Exercise Clinic, we have 5 veterinarians and a wonderful support staff with a wealth of knowledge to share. Our Camp director has worked with children for many years as a nanny, storyteller, school librarian, and science instructor. She currently lives with 7 cats and 3 dogs in her home!

Three levels of experience for campers!

-Adventures in Veterinary Medicine, Intro (1 day and 2 day options)

- Adventures in Veterinary Medicine, Advanced (1 day option)

- Adventures in Veterinary Medicine, Returning Camper (1 day option)

Below is a glimpse of what each camp session will include but is not limited to...

Adventures in Veterinary Medicine, Intro (1 day):

-Learn about and practice safe interaction with dogs and cats
-Have hands-on experience with animal guests
-Receive a behind the scenes tour of Indian Trail Animal Hospital
-Learn about parasites
-Explore toxicology
-Learn about the instruments and techniques used in an animal physical exam

Adventures in Veterinary Medicine, Intro (2 day):

This camp will cover everything offered in the 1 day camp but will add:

-Viewing bacteria and parasites using a microscope
-Spending time learning about radiology and viewing x-rays
-Learning about dentistry and the types of surgeries that vets perform

Adventures in Veterinary Medicine, Advanced (1 day):

The advanced camps are for middle and high school age students.

Campers will spend the weekend with one of Indian Trail Animal Hospital's veterinarians, Dr. Tabony.

Dr. Tabony and the campers will:

**Dr. Tabony is happy to tailor this camp to the interest of attendees**

Adventures in Veterinary Medicine, Returning Camper (1 day):

The returning camper day is for past campers from any year in
Grades 6 to 12

The entirety of this camp will be tailored to individual interests.  We can split into smaller groups and work one-on-one, take a field trip to a farm, schedule a pet for dentistry, just about anything!  Dr. Tabony will be touching base with families leading up to the camp to gather interests and develop the curriculum. Get ready for a fun and unique experience!

Please provide a labeled water bottle at drop off.

Snacks and dinner will be provided during all camps (dinner is typically pizza or Chick-Fil-A).  If your child has food allergies, please send alternate items that would be safe and appropriate for them to eat.
