STE pleased to present our October 2017 meeting at the Castway in Burbank, CA where Karl Paulsen will present on real-world recommendations on hybrid SDI/IP implementations. 

Karl Paulsen is Diversified chief technologist for digital media and broadcast television systems.

Karl's professional career encompasses mobile television operations, CGI/post-production, broadcast engineeringand systems integration; holiding positions in senior technical management, business development, design and operations. Karl leads the core technology group at Diversified, focusing on advanced technology with specialization in IP-video, network and storage systems, media management and file based/media workflow modeling.

Karl is a SMPTE Fellow, Life Member and SBE Certified Broadcast Professional Engineer; a member of the EBU-AMWA FIMS (Framework for Interoperable Media Services) project task force and the Hollywood Professional Alliance (HPA); as well as the AES and IEEE. Paulsen participates on SMPTE Engineering Standards Committees which develop and approve technical standards for the industry. He also serves on SMPTE's Board of Editors and in local management positions for the Pittsburgh SMPTE Section.
