The Alphabet Soup of Non-SMPTE Video
by
Thomas Tang of Apantac
At February 25th meeting of The Society of Television Engineers, Thomas Tang founder and President of Apantac, LLC will discuss the issues involved in dealing with Non-SMPTE video formats in broadcast and professional applications.
Life was much simpler when all we had to do is deal with Composite, Component and SDI. Now we have the Devil's Video Interface (DVI), the Hideous Devil's Multimedia Interface (HDMI), the magic of EDID and more. How do we extend them to a useful distance and how do we convert them to a stable and familiar format? Thomas will share several examples of what the NHL and Madison Square Garden did to solve these problems.
Dinner will feature a garden salad with choice of dressings followed by a choice of:
- Chicken Marsala served with rice pilaf and roasted seasonal vegetables
- Fresh Roasted Salmon with dill butter sauce served with rice pilaf and roasted seasonal vegetables
- Pasta Primavera (penne pasta with roasted vegetable marinara)
All meals include warm rolls and butter, coffee, tea and/or iced tea and for dessert ice cream.
