ICCER Webinar: The Alberta Rating Index for Apps

ICCER is pleased to present a webinar to showcase an assessment tool developed during speaker Peyman Azad Khaneghah's PhD program at the University of Alberta.

About the webinar: Alberta Rating Index for Apps (ARIA) is a user-centred quality assessment tool that can help older adults, family caregivers, and healthcare providers rate the quality of mobile health apps that are available on the app stores and identify health apps that are acceptable. The index rates the apps against the following criteria: purpose, trustworthiness, privacy, security, affordability, ease of use, functionality, target users, usefulness, and satisfaction. Peyman will demonstrate how to rate the quality of health apps using the index.

Peyman Azad Khaneghah is an occupational therapist. He has recently completed his PhD in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Alberta. During his PhD, Peyman developed a rating index to help users of mobile apps rate the quality of health apps that are available to the public via online app stores. Peyman's study was supported by Aging Gracefully Across Environments using Technologies to Support Wellness, Engagement, and Long Life Network of Centres of Excellence (AGE-WELL NCE). His previous research includes evaluation of community-based programs for older adults and usability evaluation of health technologies such as personal health records and GPS-based wayfinding technologies.
