Only Leaves Should Fall Falls Prevention Event

Did you know that falls are a leading cause of injury for older adults in Dane County? Only Leaves Should Fall is a 3-hour falls prevention event that provides information about falls risks through screenings, demonstrations and presentations. At the end of the event, participants will better understand their screening results and the next steps to take to prevent falls.  

This year’s event is September 20, 2016 at the Fitchburg Boys and Girls Club, 4619 Jenewein Road, from 10:30 to 2:00 p.m. The schedule includes:  

Health Screenings for gait, balance and strength; blood pressure; medication reviews; bone health; vision checks; bladder health; brain health; nutrition; and new ways of looking at happy hour.

Demonstrations provided by SteppingOn, Ballroom Dancing, and Tai Chi instructors for classes that are available in Dane County (ideal for those who have low to medium-high risk factors for falling).

Information about Living Well With Chronic Conditions classes available in Dane County, examples of adaptive equipment and devices, and how to schedule home safety assessments.

The Only Leaves Should Fall seminar fee is $10. Registration deadline is Monday, September 12th. Lunch and Water will be provided. Door prizes are available.
