Speaker, Author, Clinician. Faculty at Penn Dental Medicine, Alumni board member at The University of Pennsylvania Dental School, President of the University of Pennsylvania Dental Hygiene Alumni and advisory board member at Palm Beach State College. Member of the CAMBRA coalition, American Academy of Cariology, and American Academy of Pediatrics - Section on Oral Health. Longstanding member of ADHA and Distinguished Academy member of the Pennsylvania Dental Hygiene Association. Listed in Dentistry Today as a topspeaker for over a decade. Volunteer clinician  at  homeand abroad.

Hayley Buckner  is a Preventive Care Consultant Supervisor for Elevate Oral Care. Hayley enjoys combining her Dental Hygiene background and experience with her Elevate Oral Care education to bring offices and Key Opinion Leaders up to date information on prevention, prevention related products, patient centered communication, and caries risk assessment protocols. Through a webinar platform, Hayley has educated over 1,500 dental offices on the benefits and protocols of Advantage Arrest Silver Diamine Fluoride 38%.

Course Description:  Throughout history, mankind has constantly been in search of a better way. A better way to travel, to communicate and a better way to educate. Finding a better way requires a plan that involves mapping out ones’ destination, setting a course, carving out a path, and ultimately paving the way.

This program focuses on the innovations and advancements in remineralization products and technologies that will influence and change the delivery of care we provide to our patients starting today.  We will specifically focus on all types of Fluoride.  For years we only gave in-office fluoride for kids up to 16 or 18 years of age…Why? Because that’s when insurance stopped paying. 

We will look at all the different products and figure out when and why to use all of them, as well as discuss motivational techniques to help you. 

Course objectives:

• Review the importance of fluoride, options and rational
• Compare the latest products engineered to deliver “calcium and phosphate” and how they interact to improve fluoride uptake
• Define the mechanism of action and benefits of Silver Diamine Fluoride
• Review protocols and techniques for SDF placement

Patient Centered Communication via Motivational Interviewing 

• Evidence based conversational technique that guides a conversation according to a patient’s values and expectations to elicit a change in behavior
• Utilizes Shared Decision Making where the patient and Oral Care teamwork towards one goal of improving the patients’ health
• Enables the patient to have a voice, understand their options, risks/benefits, alternatives and gives them power
