Tour of Nova Chemical Plant

Nova For our 4th meeting of the 2016-17 year, we have arranged a tour of Nova Chemical's Monaca Plant. Ms Drew Enochs, Nova's Responsible Care Coordinator, will be our plant contact for the event. 

NOVA Chemicals is a leading producer of plastics and chemicals that make everyday life easier, healthier and safer. Based in North America, Nova partners with customers to develop innovative technology and products that add value throughout the supply chain in consumer, industrial and packaging markets around the world.

NOVA Chemicals' Beaver Valley plant, located in Monaca, Pennsylvania, manufactures expandable polystyrene (EPS) resins, and ARCELŪ advanced foam resin. This site also houses a Styrenics Technology Center, which contains an applications lab, along with a pilot plant, for testing and customer demonstrations. The Beaver Valley site has the capacity to manufacture about 250 million pounds of plastic resins per year using NOVA Chemicals' proprietary product and process technologies. For more info about the products manufactured at this site, see their web site.

Following the tour, we will have dinner at Rainaldi's, a nearby Italian restaurant.

Tour Requirements

1. Everyone attending must pre-register, NO WALK-INS WILL BE ALLOWED.

2. Closed-toed shoes are required with solid backs. NO heels over 1”.

3. Everyone must sign the Non-Disclosure Agreement (that Nova will supply) then scan it and email it to us prior to the meeting. 

4. A copy  of your Photo ID will also be required in advanced.  These should be emailed at least a few days prior to arrival along with the NDA's

5. Wear industrial-appropriate clothes.  Long sleeve shirts with no wide open collars, long pants and avoid polyester outerwear

6. Bring your own hard hats, safety glasses and steel toed shoes if you have them.  If not the plant will provide them. Lab coats will be provided by the plant.

7. The tour is limited to 30 attendees and registration will close when we reach that limit.

Dinner will include your choice of:

 

  • Oakbarrel Strip Steak with choice of starch, soup, house salad, rolls & butter
  • Napa Valley Chicken with choice of starch, soup, house salad, rolls & butter
  • Mediterranean Pasta, Penne tossed with roasted red peppers, artichokes,
    kalamata, olives and feta cheese, salad, rolls & butter (vegetarian)

All include coffee, tea or soft drinks

The plant is located near Monaca, PA.  Take I-376 to the Monaca exit and
turn south on Rt 18 (Frankfort Road).  In 1/2 mile you will pass the
site of the new Shell Ethane Cracker Plant on the right, contine
for another mile to the Nova plant on the right.
