Sept. 11, 2019 Meeting

PLEASE JOIN US FOR OUR MEETING ON

Wed. Sept. 11, 2019

when Dr. Rayda Krell will present

"What's New in Tickborne Disease Prevention".

Dr. Rayda Krell is an entomologist who has been working in integrated pest management for 20 years. She received her B.A. in Biology and Russian at Middlebury College, VT and her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in entomology at Iowa State University.

Fundamentally, she is interested in arthropod ecology, which is the foundation for managing pests in a judicious manner. Her past work involved insects that transmit plant pathogens to soybeans and grapes, and she currently works with ticks that transmit human pathogens in Dr. Neeta Connally’s Tickborne Disease Prevention Laboratory at WCSU.

Krell is highly engaged with her professional society, the Entomological Society of America, and has organized several events and held various leadership positions. Scientific communication is a special interest for Krell and she has applied this interest and expertise to work in editing, public outreach, and science policy. She occasionally teaches the Modes of Scientific Communication course in the biology department at WCSU.

Networking and light dinner begins at 6pm, followed by the guest speaker. Program and dinner fee is $10 for members; $25 for non-members, along with a cash bar.
