Using Social Stories to Teach and Generalize Skills

Another Free Workshop from POAC Autism Services

Social Stories ™ are great teaching tools for individuals with autism.
By using personalized text and illustrations, they provide a way to
give the learner information that he or she may not be able to learn
in more classic teaching settings. They are appropriate for learners
of all ages. This workshop will address:

  • Definition of Social Stories ™ including defining criteria
  • How to determine a skill, concept, context, or achievement to
be addressed by the Social Story ™
  • How to create Social Stories ™ using Carol Gray’s 10 defining criteria
  • Common errors in writing and using Social Stories ™
