Please join NYSCADV and the International Critical Incident Stress Management Foundation for two trainings: a one day Psychological First Aid training and a two day Group Crisis Intervention training. These trainings will help leadership at domestic violence programs prepare to support staff & survivors in times of community crisis or disaster.
Participants can choose to attend one or both of the trainings. See below for training descriptions.
PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID
(One day training - 12/13)
(Registration 8:30 AM; Training 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
Psychological First Aid has been recommended by the World Health Organization, the US Institute of Medicine, and the International Red Cross. Psychological First Aid may be thought of as the most fundamental aspect of applied crisis intervention. This course is designed to introduce participants to the basic knowledge and intervention techniques associated with the practice of Psychological First Aid. In addition, this information can serve as the essential platform upon which more advanced individual and group crisis and disaster interventions can be built.

GROUP CRISIS INTERVENTION
(Two day training - 12/14 & 12/15)
(Registration 8:30 AM; Training 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
Using a comprehensive, systematic and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum, the Group Crisis Intervention course will prepare participants to understand a wide range of crisis intervention services. Fundamentals of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) will be outlined and participants will leave with the knowledge and tools to provide several group crisis interventions, specifically demobilizations, defusings and the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). The need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals when necessary will also be discussed.
