Our Special Guest Speaker will be:

Dr. Katie A. Ports, PhD

CDC, Division of Violence Prevention

During this presentation, attendees will: 

  • be introduced to the public health framework of childhood maltreatment and other adverse childhood experiences;
  • understand the association between early adversity and important health, wellness, and life potential outcomes; 
  • integrate the role of prevention into their understanding of how different sectors can work together to promote lifelong health and wellbeing by preventing child maltreatment and other early adversities.
 
Brief Bio:
 
Katie A. Ports, PhD, is a Fellow in the Division of Violence Prevention (DVP) at the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).   Dr. Ports works primarily with the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study in DVP and serves as a Subject Matter Expert for the ACE Study.   Her research focuses primarily on ACEs and impact on lifelong health and opportunity.
