2021 Public Policy Event

Join the Citizens Research Council of Michigan for a Fun and Informative Evening

Join the staff, supporters, and friends of the Citizens Research Council of Michigan at the 105th annual public policy event on Thursday, October 7 from 4 to 7 pm.

The Research Council will present the Eugene A. Gargaro, Jr. Public Service Award to former Mayor Dennis Archer in recognition of his many years as serving residents of Detroit and the state of Michigan and his civic involvement to improve our communities.

The evening will feature an exploration of Michigan’s role in shaping the future of electric vehicle mobility and the infrastructure to facilitate their use.

U.S. Secretary Jennifer Granholm will be providing information about the current administration's goals, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Kristin Dziczek, Senior Vice President at the Center for Automotive Research.

Panelists include:

  • Alex Keros, Lead Architect for EV Infrastructure at General Motors,
  • DV Rao, Senior Vice President of Strategy at Consumers Energy,
  • Paul Ajegba, Director of the Michigan Department of Transportation, and
  • Trevor Pawl, Michigan's Chief Mobility Officer.

Because the pandemic is outlasting everyone’s hopes and desires, we have planned the evening with opportunities to join us in person or view the events online. The event will be held at the MotorCity Casino and broadcast live on the internet for those who wish to stay closer to home.  In-person guests are invited to join us for a drink, enjoy a few appetizers, network with our honoree, and converse with our panelists beginning at 4:00 p.m.  The program will start promptly at 5:00 p.m.  There will be a Q&A session following the panel and the program will end at 6:30 p.m.  For in-person guests who cannot join us before the broadcast or those who wish more time with us, there will be an afterglow reception from 6:30-7:00 p.m.

All guests joining us in person are required to have had the COVID-19 vaccine or a recent negative PCR test administered by a medical provider/official testing center. In-person guests are also encouraged to wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status.

If the Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus continues to infect more people and congregating as a group is judged unsafe, we will provide options for online viewing or ticket refunds.

The Council, a 105-year-old nonprofit, promotes the development of informed public policy at all levels of Michigan government through the delivery of factual, unbiased analysis of the most critical issues pertinent to state and local government.
