How to Submit Your Presentation

The 2017 AIA Kansas Conference Planning Committee is now accepting submissions for presentations at Evolve, this year’s annual education conference set for Oct. 18–19 at The Oread Hotel in Lawrence. We welcome presentations on all manner of design topics that address this year’s Evolve conference theme -- Draw, Design, Build: Reinvigorating Our Passion for Architecture.

Deadline for submissions is 10 pm on June 30.

The conference will focus on sessions that include an active learning component to renew attendees’ inspiration and energy, with the hope that this active learning methodology can be replicated in subsequent events throughout the state. We invite architects, interior architects, planners, faculty, students, and industry colleagues to take this opportunity to get back to their “roots” and collectively rediscover “why we do this,” with the hope that this experience will translate into higher-quality design outcomes that serve the best interest of our clients and community.

Professionals are also invited to speak about their own efforts to pursue innovative models for design, collaboration, and drawing in their practice and successes in delivering a fine level of craft in the built environment.

2017 Keynote Speaker
Frank Harmon
, FAIA, award-winning architect and author of the Native Places blog, will give a keynote address followed by a panel discussion. Afterward, Frank will be joined by John Gaunt, FAIA, former dean of KU’s School of Architecture, Design & Planning, for a hand-drawing workshop that is sure to delight attendees. Please join us and bring your pens, pencils, and sketchbooks!
