With some background information about acquired brain injury and it's prevalence across sectors as the highest population of those who 'fall through the cracks', join us in a robust discussion about some of the fears, concerns and anxieties about supporting clients with a suspected brain injury and become more effective in your working relationship.  Learn how to reassess goal setting,  establish gentle reminders, and talk through various ways to support someone who's lack of insight may distort their ability to have 'realistic' or appropriate goals.

Some Expected Outcomes and Learning Goals:

  • Understand the types, causes and effects of acquired or traumatic brain injury
  • Identify the signs and symptoms and how this relates to your sector and work environment
  • Gently screen when suspecting  brain injury to be a factor with a a simple 5 question tool
  • Gather important skills such as scripting and de-escalating to better support your clients
Please feel free to be open to discussion and feedback as we work with the Ontario Brain Injury Association to develop non-brain injury sector specific education. ________________________________________________________________
