Next Stop: Tokyo

Carmen and Emma Cowles have had their sights set on success since they began sailing Optis at Larchmont Yacht Club when they were 9 years old.  Training with LISOT in Optis quickly turned into training in I-420's, where they competed in many national and international events.

Current Gold Medals:

  • I-420 World Sailing Youth World Championships (2018)
  • I-420 Midwinters Championships (2018)
  • I-420 World Sailing Youth World Championships (2017)
  • I-420 Midwinters Championships (2017)
  • I-420 National Championships (2016)

On top of this impressive list of wins, they are US Sailing's 2018 Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year winners, and were finialists in 2017!

Carmen and Emma transitioned into the Olympic Class 470 during the fall of 2018. They are preparing their 2020 Olympic campaign, and they need your help! The expenses for coaching, traveling, and equipment to train and compete against the best sailors in the world are substantial, reaching well into six-figures.

The 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo is likely to be the last time that there will be an all-women’s 470 event. Carmen and Emma will be a force to be reckoned with in 2020.
