Sally Barkow

Coach Sally Barkow

The coach for this Clinegatta is Sally Barkow.

Sally has been racing full-time since 2002 and prior to joining Team SCA for the Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 she had been sailing on the Olympic circuit for ten years, competing in the Beijing Games. Between Olympic events she fielded a competitive international match race team. Sally was a helmsman/trimmer onboard Team SCA and the InPort tactician playing a key role in helping the team to secure third position overall in the InPort Series and a historic

leg win. Her career highlights include being named US Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year in 2005 and 2007, Women’s Match Racing World Champion in 2004 and 2005 and holding the Rolex Women’s keelboat championship title for three years. In 2016, Sally is the only female helm to receive a World Match Race Tour card. As a participating founder of The Magenta Project, she continues to build female talent to compete on the Tour for 2017 in the M32 catamarans for the World Match Race Tour Championship.

Oakcliff Two-Day Clinic, May 18-19: The May Clinegatta is unique in that the Oakcliff Sailing Center is providing two days of expert instruction and intensive training. The opportunity to train and race in the Swedish Match 40s for two days, with organized drills, immediate feedback and video debrief sessions following the training will raise the level of the racing immensely. Often teams are peaking just as the Round Robins are ending. In this event, teams will be ready to go in Race 1, and will only get stronger from there. Don't miss this opportunity to fine-tune your game. (Cost is $100 per person for those registering for clinic only.)
