Oakcliff Summer Invitational Clinic

Coach Liz Baylis

Oakcliff Two-Day Clinic, July 31 - August 1: The Oakcliff Summer Invitational Clinegatta is unique in that the Oakcliff Sailing Center is providing two days of expert instruction and intensive training. The opportunity to train and race in the Swedish Match 40s for two days, with organized drills, immediate feedback and video debrief sessions following the training will raise the level of the racing immensely. Often teams are peaking just as the Round Robins are ending. In this event, teams will be ready to go in Race 1, and will only get stronger from there. Don't miss this opportunity to fine-tune your game. (Cost is $100 per person for those registering for clinic only.)

The Coach for this clinic is Liz Baylis.

Liz started her sailing career at an early age in the classic high winds venue of San Francisco Bay. She still calls the Bay her home, but she has accumulated over 25,000 offshore miles including many victorious TransPac and Pacific Cup races from California to Hawaii.  During the 2000 America's Cup, she was part of the America True team with Oakcliff Executive Director, Dawn Riley. Liz is probably best known for her match racing accomplishments as a skipper which include the 2002 Women's Match Racing World Championship title and multiple Grade 1 championship wins. Her offshore and match racing success were recognized in 2002 when she received the US Rolex Yachtswomen of the Year award.  As the Executive Director of the Women's International Match Racing Association (WIMRA) she lead the campaign to include women's match racing in the 2012 Olympics and continues to promote the sport around the world by teaching clinics and running regattas. In 2013, WIMRA successfully launched the first professional match racing series for women with Liz taking the role of Series Manager. Liz also has role in the administration of the sport of sailing as the Chairman of the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Match Racing Committee.
