Match Race Qualifier April 5 & 6

The US SAILING ABC area Qualifier Match Race, April 5 & 6, is a road to the 2014 U.S. Match Racing Championships and U.S. Women's Match Race Championship. The ABC regatta will be raced in Oakcliff's SM40s with a crew of five or six, subject to a weight limit of 962.5 lbs. US Sailing requires all skippers and crew members to be current members of US Sailing at the time of participation for this event.

The regatta is an Open Entry Event and serves as a qualification event for the 2014 United States Match Racing Championship. The highest ranking female skipper will earn a qualifcation for the United States Women's Match Race Championship. A world ranking is not required. This is the perfect opportunity to compete in your first Grade 4 event. Special consideration will be given to local and regional teams. Interested competitors can register below by MARCH 15. (If you are not selected to race in the event by the OA, your entry bond/fee will be refunded. If you are accepted to race but do not show, your entry bond/fee will not be refunded.)

SM 40 Match Race Clinic -- On Friday, April 4, Oakcliff will run a clinic on how to match race in SM40s. This clinic is open to ALL, though preference will go to teams competing in the ABC Qualifier that weekend.

The coach for this Clinegatta will be Dave Perry. Dave is a 4 time US Match Race Champion, Americas Cup Advisor for three Campaigns, and two time US Oplympic Sailing Team. See below for details. Dave runs a great clinic starting with a thorough briefing about the skills to be practiced to detailed explanation of the drills, organized, efficient drills and some of the best debriefs around. Dave's passion to teach shows through his energy and engaging classroom style.

Now is the time to shake off the dust and get ready to race and to win.
