Oyster Bay Youth Match Racing Clinegatta
Coach Andrew Campbell
This is one of four Youth Match Racing Clinegattas (a clinic and regatta in one event, with continued coaching during the regatta) being held in the U.S. in 2013. This is the East Event. This event will be sailed in Seawanhaka Corintian YC's Sonars which will be the boat used for college sloop nationals this year. It is a great time to get coaching and experience match racing Sonars.
The Clinic will be run and coached by Andrew Campbell.
Andrew Campbell 4 time Collegiate All American, Laser North American Champion and Olympic sailor will lead the clinic . Andrew has been the tactician for Bill Hadesty in the Congressional Cup and other events. He has run numerous match race clinics. Andrew ran two great clinegattas for us last year and we are thrilled to have him back for this event.
The target age for this event is 16-22, older high school students and college students. With the intercollegiate sailing association (ICSA) now holding a national Match Racing Championship, this is an excellent opportunity for sailors planning on competing for that championship.
Special consideration will be given to high school, collegiate and youth women’s teams in addition to teams traveling a distance of more than 500 kilometers.
Competitors can register as a team of 4 or 5 with a maximum crew weight of 768 lbs. or as individuals. Competitos should pay their entry upon registering by clicking below and can use a credit card at the door for the damage deposit. If there is no damage no charges will be made to the credit card on file. Remember to bring your life jacket if you have one, your lunch/snacks and a refillable water bottle.
