Oyster Bay Youth Match Racing Clinegatta

This is one of four Youth Match Racing Clinegattas (a clinic and regatta in one event, with continued coaching during the regatta) being held in the U.S. in 2012. This is the East Event. This is an excellent time to get exposed to the thrills and challenges of match racing in Swedish Match 40s.

The Clinic will be run and coached by Dave Perry.

Dave Perry is afour-time U.S. National Match Racing Champion and lead coach for the US Sailing Team AlphaGraphics women’s match race team training for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Dave has conducted hundreds of match racing clinics to sailors of all ages and experience levels, and they all have learned a tremendous amount in a short time.

The target age for this event is 16-22, older high school students and college students. With the intercollegiate sailing association (ICSA) now holding a national Match Racing Championship, this is an excellent opportunity for sailors planning on competing for that championship.

Special consideration will be given to high school, collegiate and youth women’s teams in addition to teams traveling a distance of more than 500 kilometers.
