Musical Celebration with members
of
The Elgin Youth Symphony
Every year, the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra (EYSO) develops its concert season around a central theme so young musicians (3rd grade to college) may explore, study and understand a specific idea from various perspectives. Themes from past seasons focused on time, movement, architecture, and invention. Our 38th season celebrates the genius and influence of William Shakespeare with some of the greatest works for orchestra ever written.
The EYSO has long believed that the comprehensive study and performance of great music offers the opportunity to look at the arts as more than a pleasant diversion. Rather, the arts are seen as a lens to view the human experience, a special way of understanding reality, and a way to communicate what we know about the world and ourselves.
Concert performances are on Sundays at 2:00p.m., 4:30p.m. and 7:30p.m. Each concert features different EYSO Orchestras (there are five in all) and a Brass Choir. There are also special performances throughout the year by the EYSO Chamber Music Institute, honors chamber groups, guest conductors, and guest performance artists.
