Part 2 of our "Insurance and Contracts" Series.
CONTRACTS

What 2 things seem to slow you down the most and never seem to get any easier???  Try... Insurance and Contracts!
This particular topic has been requested from our members so many times we decided to cover it as a 2 part series; Insurance and Contracts. We covered, "Insurance," at our March 15th meeting and this month (May 17th) we'll close out with CONTRACTS.

"What do you need to know about Contracts in Construction"

  • Indemnity and Colorado law
  • Wording to always include and phrases to avoid
  • When to negotiate and when to walk away
  • The group should bring some questions from their own experience for Q&A

We are VERY fortunate to host one of the premier attorneys representing construction law. Presenting that evening is a man with the experience and education to charge $550/hour and yet he is volunteering his time with the CGCA in order to further improve our industry. Please join us and bring those in your office who perform the majority of your contract reviews - because THIS ONE NIGHT of education can improve your ENTIRE YEAR!!!

Joe Bronesky has practiced with Sherman & Howard since 1976.  He is a member of the firm’s Construction Law Practice Group, and represents owners, general contractors, subs, and suppliers in construction litigation matters.  Joe serves as the General Counsel to Sherman & Howard, and advises its lawyers and staff in the firm on ethics, risk management, and strategy issues. As a member of the Litigation Department, he represents his clients on disputes involving real property, construction, contracts and appeals. He also provides expert testimony on issues related to the performance of attorneys, including the reasonableness of attorney fees.

He has also served as the General Counsel of the firm, which has eleven offices in six states, since January 1, 2008.  Joe graduated from the University of Chicago Law School, clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and served in the Judge Advocate General Corps of the U.S. Navy before joining Sherman & Howard.
