The Difference Between a Dream and a Goal

In the theme of planning for the New Year, this workshop will not only teach us how to make our goals S.M.A.R.T., but we will learn the difference between a dream and a goal. This interactive workshop will be an exercise that will allow each person to take one goal (personal or business) and plan out the strategies and action steps needed to accomplish their goal.

Meet Our Speaker

Cheryl El-Alfi

Cheryl describes herself as: “I have a head for business and a heart for helping”.  She works with W/MBE business executives and their leadership teams to implement the strategies necessary to grow their business within the corporate supply chain.  Cheryl’s approach is to align the supplier diversity goals of the corporate client to the capabilities and capacity of the W/MBE suppliers.  Her business style is to teach as she leads.

Cheryl’s expertise in the area of evaluating the corporate customer’s needs and the W/MBE’s business delivery operations, and appropriately designing the W/MBE’s business development programs, has resulted in delivering fantastic results for the business owners with whom she has worked.

Some key examples are:

  • Led the strategic growth with corporate partners such as IBM, MCI, and UPS from $8M to $20M in less than five years.
  • Managed the strategic relationship with Procter and Gamble and experienced 1113% business growth in one year.
  • Grew the corporate client’s business at the same time she grew the W/MBE’s business.
  • Positioned the W/MBE for Supplier of the Year and Corporate Plus in two years.

“One of the best compliments I’ve ever received was when the Supplier Diversity Manager first met me and said “so you’re the person who infiltrated my supply chain”. Cheryl’s response was, “guilty”. The client went on to thank her for helping them win their first international client.

Chery’s background is unique and diverse. Her knowledge of and working experience in supplier diversity programs includes the Small Business Administration’s 8A program in addition to Corporate America’s W/MBE programs. She has mastered the skill of leveraging these programs to not only help the W/MBE businesses achieve their financial goals; but also the Corporate Supply Chain’s diverse spend goals. She refers to this as a “win-win” situation.
