The Buddha's Way of Happiness

Weekend Retreat with

Howard Cohn

Howard Cohn

Sorry - This retreat is full. Registration is closed for this retreat.

The Buddha was called 'the Happy One.' His teachings and practices provide an inspiring vision of our human potential to experience the highest happiness. They remind us that many of our culture’s promises of what brings happiness actually block our way to the source of real joy. This weekend of Insight Meditation will follow the Buddha's way of Mindfulness, Concentration and Love, illuminating how each of us, through a gradual process of recognizing and cultivating our natural awareness, can move from clinging and attachment to letting go and freedom, from confusion to clarity, and from tension to ease. The Buddha said, If it was not possible to do this I would not ask you to. Come and see for yourself. The retreat will include instructions in sitting and walking meditation along with opportunities for new and experienced meditators to dialogue with the teacher about their practice.

Howard Cohn is a senior teacher at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, and founder of Mission Dharma, San Francisco's 30-year-old weekly meditation gathering. Howard Cohn has studied with teachers in the Theravada, Zen, Dzogchen and Advaita Vedanta traditions. He has practiced meditation since 1972 and has led vipassana retreats since 1985. He is known by his students for his kindheartedness and warm sense of humor. He lives in Sausalito, California.
