ADAD Training: Confidentiality of Patient Records, 42 CFR Part II 

Content: The purpose of this training is to update the laws pertaining to confidentiality, privacy, and privileged communication.  Participants will gain an understanding of the ethical implications and exceptions to maintaining confidentiality, to include a better understanding on the updated information regarding the 42 CFR Part 2.

Facilitator: Deborah Reid, Staff Attorney for the Legal Action Center. Ms. Reid joined the Legal Action Center in April 2015. She directs LAC’s legislative and policy work to protect the confidentiality of substance use disorder treatment and prevention records. She also participates in LAC’s advocacy to ensure implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) for justice involved individuals.

Target Audience: Certified Substance Abuse Counselors (CSAC), and applicants, those with other ADAD professional credentials (CCJP, CSAPA, CCS, and CCDP-D).
