Content: The purpose of this training is to describe the scope of substance use and identify trends related to geographic region, gender, ethnicity, and age. The pharmacological and pharmacokinetic properties of commonly used substances will be a focus along with a genetic and environmental variables influencing use.
Facilitator: Edward Fisher, PhD in Pharmaceutical Science is a Professor and Associate Dean the University of Hawaii at Hilo. He also serves as the Director of the Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharmacology program. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he currently teaches in his areas of expertise that include substance abuse and addiction, nutrition, and pharmacotherapy of mental disorders.Target Audience: Certified Substance Abuse Counselors (CSAC), Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS), and Applicants; those with other ADAD professional credentials; and anyone involved in the human services field.
