Content:The purpose of the Compassion Satisfaction: Preventing Burnout in the Workplace is to provide training for substance abuse counselors and mental health providers to prevent compassion fatigue and workplace burnout. This workshop will define compassion fatigue (or secondary trauma), address resiliency, self-care, and focus on provider well-being. In addition, this workshop will provide the tools counselors and mental health workers need to prevent compassion fatigue and increase compassion satisfaction. Lasting change comes through education and information. Balanced, healthy providers can offer the best care to their patients which in turn have a lasting impact on the community.
Facilitator: Elaine Hicks, MSP, is a compassion fatigue educator, holds a master's degree in psychology and worked as a case manager for the spmi/dual diagnosed population on Oahu for 5 years. She provides compassion fatigue prevention workshops throughout the island and currently manages a nonprofit organization dedicated to working with clinicians and other mental health professionals to decrease burnout and increase work-life balance.
Target Audience: Certified Substance Abuse Counselors (CSAC) and Applicants, those with other ADAD professional credential, and anyone involved in the human services.
