Finding Math in All Sorts of Places

Why Informal Math Matters

While parents are not expected to act as experts regarding content or to attempt to teach the content, their help as math coaches is essential to children’s mathematics achievement. In this session, we will explore what it means to be a math coach by finding math in everyday objects, learning how to prompt math talk, and understanding why modeling positive math behaviours and mathitudes matters.

Speaker:Dr. Lynda Cogan PhD   Faculty of Education Queen's University
