The Fatherhood Project’s (TFP) Parents In Recovery program teaches parents skills to increasingly be emotionally engaged with their children, which we know from research is a powerful component of relapse prevention.
Findings from TFP’s research on the impact of Parents In Recovery have found that parents:
- Are more confident in their ability to abstain from drug and alcohol use when feeling depressed or having a craving.
- Experience less reactivity and are able to remain calm when feeling stressed.
- Feel more attentive, present-minded and emotionally engaged with their children.
PARTICIPANTS IN THIS NATIONAL TRAINING WILL:
- Learn about the content and process of all 10 sessions of the Parents In Recovery evidence- based curriculum.
- Observe The Fatherhood Project’s leaders running live sessions from the curriculum and debrief participants’ reflections.
- Learn about key findings from our current research about the Parents In Recovery Program.
- Discuss the challenges and opportunities parents face around the issue of reunification with their children.
- Leave with a plan to implement sessions from the Parents In Recovery curriculum in your particular setting.
