December 13, 2016 Env Breakfast - Update on the Pollution Control Board and Water Quality Trading

The A&WMA Lake Michigan States Section and the Union League Club Environmental Committee are pleased to invite you to join us to hear Gerald Keenan speak at the December 13th Environmental Breakfast.  Gerald Keenan is the current Chairman of the Illinois Pollution Control Board.

Increasingly, environmental advocates and regulators are focused on problems created by nutrients in our waterways.  From local algae blooms to the Gulf of Mexico's notorious "Dead Zone," the consequences of too many nutrients draw increasing focus.  Lower discharge limits are being implemented.  But how much cleaner can end-of-pipe technologies get without soaring costs?

Is it time to look at different ways of protecting water quality in receiving streams?  Can economic collaboration among various point and non-point sources help meet the goal of improving water quality in Illinois' waterways?

Join us as we discuss Water Quality Trading and its benefits - from habitat creation to job creation.
