2011 is the International Year Year of Chemistry because it marks the 100th anniversary of Mme Curie winning the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. The mission of the International Year of Chemistry (IYC) is to increase the public perception of chemistry. The year was divided into four quarters each with a chemistry-related to everyday life theme: Q1-Environment, Q2: Energy Q3: Materials Q4: Health.
We have celebrated IYC each quarter of 2011 on Cape Cod via the Cape Cod Science Cafe applying the IYC theme that would interest local residents.
Our last IYC event is the Q4 Cape Cod Science Cafe and this event is for kids. Join us for hands-on science experiments related to chemistry:our life, our health. Of course the events are designed for K-12 students but adults enjoy making their own hand-sanitizer and testing common foods for starch and vitamin C among other neat chemistry experiments. All ages are welcome!
Marshland Too is catering the event with healthy snacks for all attendees.
Event is hosted by: Sandwich Public Library
Event is sponsored by: Northeastern Section of the American Chemical Society and PID Analyzers, LLC.
