The Current State of Crowdfunding

Jed Cohen, COO, RocketHub
Sam Guzik, Chairman, Crowdfunding Professional Association
Kim Wales, Founder, Wales Capital
The meeting will focus on current and anticipated product offerings of the crowdfunding sector. Each of our panelists is a leading figure in the industry, and the panel will collectively do its best to bring the audience up-to-date on developments relevant to startup firms. At a minimum, you should come away with a good understanding of Titles II, III, IV, and Regulations A, A+.

Presentations will be targeted at entrepreneurs considering crowdfunding as a financing vehicle. Startups should be aware that
participation in the sector requires a considerable amount of know-how.  Each segment has its own legal framework, with some aspects set and others evolving.  Presentations will be structured to help those considering these products to decide if they are a fit for your company.

Jed Cohen co-founded RocketHub in 2010 when crowdfunding was more of a concept than an industry. RocketHub is a traditional rewards-based online funding platform with plans to introduce loan and equity-crowdfunding services in the near future. RocketHub operates on the premise that individuals can leverage social capital to raise large sums of money by aggregating many contributors. It was recently acquired by EFactor Group.

Samuel Guzik is Chairman of the Crowdfunding Professional Association and an attorney in private practice. He is a recognized authority on the JOBS Act and ongoing SEC statute formulation including Rule 506 of Regulation D private placements, Regulation A+, and investment crowdfunding. He authors a column on Crowdfundinsider.com called The Crowdfunding Counselor, which addresses issues affecting entrepreneurs and online funding portals.

Kim Wales is Founder & CEO of Wales Capital, a management consulting firm; and CrowdBureau, a crowdfund investment research and ratings firm. Kim is ranked as one of the top 10 experts in securities-based crowdfunding. She has been quoted in the N.Y. Times, Forbes, Business Week, Bloomberg, and BBC-TV. Kim is an Executive Board Member CFIRA, the industry's lobbying and advocacy trade organization for the JOBS Act.
