Since 2008 the landscape for the funding of startups has remained difficult. Investors in the sector have been concerned about the ability of new firms to survive in such a rough economy, and have financed only those with the most promising prospects. Regrettably, this has left countless good firms on the sidelines with no recourse but to wait until the economy improves.

If your firm is not the next Microsoft or Google, but clearly has a great concept, important technology, or fills a non-tech need that is not addressed by the market, you can still get funded - but only if you know the ropes. The event will focus on enabling entrepreneurs with firms at all stages of development to have a better understanding and insight into the process and mindset of those who provide funding.

David Beatty is a Managing Director of Golden Seeds, one of the largest and most active angel groups in the US. He has co-founded seven companies since starting Empire Messaging Inc. in 1993, and so far has successfully exited three. As a serial entrepreneur and angel, he has invested in over 20 startups. David has led many workshops for angel investors and entrepreneurs in the US and for the US State Department overseas.

Alan Brody is author of the new book "Are You Fundable," which is dedicated to helping entrepreneurs become more knowledgeable about the funding process for startups. He is also founder of the iBreakfast and iEvening series of pitch events. As executive program director of TECHmarketing, he has created several hi-tech media events including eTV World and Digital TV/Internet Conference. He has appeared on the Charlie Rose show and spoken at many Industry conferences.

Brian Cohen is Chairman of New York Angels and CEO of Launch.it. NYA is a leading angel group in the Northeast, which has invested over $45 million in more than 70 early stage companies. Brian was an early investor in Pinterest, a social networking website which allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections. In 2012 he founded Launch.it, an online marketing and engagement resource devoted to connecting startups with potential clients on a gratis basis.

All registrants who reply by 10/15 will receive a gratis ticket to a pitch event on 10/16. The event is run by iEvening and will be devoted to presentations by several startup firms, followed by panel comments regarding the quality of the pitch as well as viability of the presenting firm.
