Sesshin is an extended meditation retreat in the Zen tradition, a time to come together as a community, and settle deeply into practice. A rough translation of the Japanese word "sesshin" is to touch the mind, or become intimate with the mind. Becoming intimate with the mind, the heart and life as it really is, is exactly what happens at sesshin. By paring down our normal schedule for a few days we make room for the many other possibilities of life to arise.
There is meditation, healthy vegetarian meals, interviews with the teacher, Zen talks and discussions, and lots of quiet warmth and community to settle into. No experience is required and the retreat is open to everyone.
The retreats are both residential and non-residential. If you would like a more intimate experience of sesshin, there is room to stay at the Centre during the retreat. Please let us know what your preference is. Participants will receive an email after registering with information on what to bring and FAQ reference guide.
