Equality, Diversity, Inclusion & Mental Illness Half Day Workshop With HTP

All businesses on the Isle of Wight are subject to UK anti-discrimination law and are susceptable to staff absence and increased staff turnover through stress and mental illness.

The overall aim of the workshop is to raise awareness and knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and the practical application of its provisions when dealing with customers and colleagues. Mental Illness is a cross-cutting theme and participants will feel more confident with recognising mental illness at an early stage.

By the end of the session delegates should:

  • Ø Understand the legal definitions and principles of equality and diversity
  • Ø Have explored the importance of appropriate professional language
  • Ø Be prepared to self-assess their own management style – could they be the bully?
  • Ø Feel confident with colleagues and customers from each of the protected characteristics (with a focus on mental illness)

Training style – Training session will include PowerPoint, Flipchart,  disability simulation aids and ‘real life’ scenarios. Jack will encourage discussion, dialogue and interaction. Participants will form a number of small groups to consider various elements during the session including the real-life scenarios.
