AFCEA CMD Membership Luncheon

AFCEA Central Maryland Chapter hosts a monthly luncheon series that features keynote speeches from industry leaders, networking opportunities, and updates on upcoming events. 

KEY NOTE SPEAKER: 

STUART F. TIMERMAN, DISA
Acting Director, Development and Business Center

Stuart Timerman is the Acting Director for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Development and Business Center (DBC). In this capacity, he is responsible for the development of DISA's core services and capabilities supporting the Department of Defense's mission partners, as well as mission partner engagement and requirements processes for the Agency to include technical feasibility studies, new innovation, proposal development, and portfolio management. He also serves as the senior executive for industry engagement and public affairs support.
Prior to assuming this key leadership position, Timerman was the Vice Director of the DISA Operations Center. There he was responsible for providing, coordinating, and synchronizing capabilities and services that are always available, reliable, and secure in support of the DoD Information Network.
As the Director of DISA’s Defense Spectrum Organization (DSO), he was responsible for developing comprehensive and integrated spectrum plans and long-term strategies to address current and future needs for DOD spectrum access.
In his role as the Army Spectrum Manager for the Army’s CIO/G6 from 2004-2010, he was responsible for the establishment of the spectrum management program within the U.S. Army. His office set spectrum management policy within the Army, certified Army spectrum-dependent systems for operation, and managed/provided frequency assignments for the operational force.
Prior to joining Army CIO/G6, he was the Deputy Director for the DISA Defense Spectrum Office, the precursor to today’s Defense Spectrum Organization. While at the Defense Spectrum Office, Timerman functioned as the DOD International Spectrum Team lead before becoming the Deputy Director. In this role, Timerman led the DOD team in preparation for the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC), as well as, leading the DOD team responsible for satellite orbital slot coordination with foreign nations.
Timerman began his government career in 1999 where he was responsible for overseeing and directing numerous electromagnetic compatibility efforts for key DOD satellite and intel programs at the DISA Joint Spectrum Center. Prior to entering federal service, Timerman was a section manager with the former IIT Research Institute (IITRI).
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Clarkson University (Potsdam, New York) in Electrical Engineering. He started his professional career performing electromagnetic interference analyses of spectrum-dependent systems integrated onboard U.S. Navy ships.
Timerman was born and raised in Watertown, New York, where he met and married his wife. They have one daughter and two grandchildren.
